BOSTON, MA: Attorney David R. Yannetti will present his dramatic closing argument from the 1998 Jeffrey Curley murder case at this year’s “Battle of the Lawyers” event in Boston on November 20th. The event, presented by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, is designed to showcase masterful trial lawyers re-creating their closing arguments in memorable cases. Attorney Yannetti is honored to join other notable lawyers at the event. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Jimmy Fund, Attorney Yannetti’s designated charity of choice.
A distinguished criminal defense attorney, David Yannetti has maintained a highly regarded criminal defense practice in Boston since 1999. Before that, he served as an assistant district attorney and senior trial prosecutor in Middlesex County in Massachusetts for ten years. It was in this latter capacity that he prosecuted two men for the 1997 abduction of a 10 year-old Cambridge boy, Jeffrey Curley. Salvatore Sicari and Charles Jaynes were convicted in separate trials in 1998 of both kidnapping and murder. The case garnered national attention and led to an ultimately unsuccessful effort to restore the death penalty in Massachusetts.
The “Battle of the Lawyers” has been an impressive and poignant event for Lawyers Weekly for four years running and is open to members of the bar and community alike. Attorney Yannetti’s highly commended closing argument in the Curley murder case is slated to be a huge attraction for the evening. The night is expected to raise an estimated $5,000 for charity and the event is one of a kind in Boston’s legal community.
“I am honored to participate in the “Battle of the Lawyers” event this year and am delighted that this charity event brings people together in the spirit of excellence,” Attorney Yannetti commented, when reached at his Boston office this morning.
