ATTY. YANNETTI PREVAILS IN THE “BATTLE OF THE LAWYERS”
BOSTON, MA, January 12, 2009: Attorney David Yannetti won the trophy for “Most Compelling Argument” at the fourth annual Battle of the Lawyers event at MCLE. Attorney Yannetti’s highly commended closing in the Jeffrey Curley murder case proved to be the highlight of an intriguing assortment of legal arguments spanning the evening.
Attorney Yannetti shined with his closing argument from the Curley murder trial, bringing those present in the room back to the courtroom where, ultimately, two men were convicted of murder and Attorney Yannetti earned a reputation as a fearless litigator. Members of the Massachusetts Bar and Judiciary mingled at the lively event which raised $5,000 for charity, a portion of which went to Atty. Yannetti’s charity of choice: The Jimmy Fund.
The event featured the brightest legal minds in Massachusetts. Arguments by Attorney Yannetti and other notable attorneys proved highly charged and memorable. The “Battle,” presented by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, is one of a kind in Boston’s legal community. A jury composed of respected attorneys, judiciary and local celebrities, including politicians and members of the news media, ultimately convened to render their “verdict”, handing Attorney Yannetti the coveted trophy.
A distinguished criminal defense attorney, David Yannetti has maintained a highly regarded practice in Boston since 1999. Before that, he served as an assistant district attorney and a senior trial prosecutor in Middlesex County in Massachusetts for ten years. It was in this latter capacity that he prosecuted two men for the heinous murder of a Cambridge boy, Jeffrey Curley. In his nineteen-year career, Attorney Yannetti has tried hundreds of criminal cases, including twelve high-profile murder cases.
“The Battle of the Lawyers is always a terrific opportunity to witness other talented attorneys at the top of their game. I am thrilled to be honored with the title of “Most Compelling Argument,” especially in light of the tough competition this year.” Attorney Yannetti commented from his Boston office this morning.
